For example, your trailer needs to be equipped with two proper functioning amber indicator lights, an illuminated number plate, two triangular red reflectors, two red brake lights and if your trailer is more than 1.3 meters wide you need at least one red fog light. Side note, to illuminate your number plates, one or two number plate lights are mandatory, for which an 'E' marked light is required. Finally, all trailers built after September 30th 1990 require front reflectors. If a clear window in the rear position lamp is approved, this can be used instead of a separate number plate lamp. However, it must be fitted to the manufacturer's instructions, with regard to distance from the number plate. Do the rear lights not have integrated license place lights?
