Window and lock de-icers

When the temperature drops below zero, it can have some unpleasant consequences for your car. Not only will your car battery have a harder time, the chances are high that your windows and locks are affected by the cold as well, because they will probably be frosted. If you don't like scraping your windows, you can use a window de-icer. Are your locks frozen, then you can use a lock defroster that will help it defrosts in seconds. Next to de-icers, Winparts also offers car heaters and complete winter kits. Winter kits are often equipped with window and lock de-icers, an ice scraper, anti-freeze fluid and an anti-condensation cloth. Everything you need to get through the winter.

In winter it sometimes happens - a frozen windscreen or a frozen lock. We start with a tip; do not pour hot water over the windscreens and car windows. You?ll run the risk of cracking the entire car window. This can also happen when you set the heater to its highest level and point it at the windshield. So be careful with this. Best to use an ice scraper of a window de-icer.

Window de-icers

If you are not so fond of scraping the windows in the freezing cold, a window de-icer is the ideal solution. With the help of a window defroster, you can easily de-ice the frozen windscreen and side mirrors. Just spray and within a few seconds the ice evaporates. The products that contain glycol also help to prevent the windows and mirrors from freezing again. You can also defrost your windows with a car heater. It usually takes a while for the car to heat up though. With a car heater you can immediately blow hot air on the windows, so your windows will clear in no time.

Lock defrosters

It is also possible that the lock of your car freezes. This happens because condensation takes place in the lock, which then freezes. Fortunately, there are ways to make sure the car lock is ice-free again, such as with a lock de-icer. A lock defroster is often a small bottle of 50 ml. Easy to carry in your bag or in your jacket pocket. The lock de-icer should be sprayed inside the lock. After a few seconds the lock has thawed. Most lock de-icers contain glycol, which helps against refreezing. We recommend to keep the lock de-icer within reach, and not in your car. If the lock is frozen and the defroster is still in the car, then of course you have a problem.

Frozen car doors

You have defrosted the windows and locks, and you are ready to go. However, it can also happen that the rubbers of the doors are also frozen. But there is also a handy solution for this, namely rubber sticks or rubber spray. These products are intended to prevent the rubbers from freezing and do not help so much against already frozen rubbers. In order to prevent your car's doors from freezing, lubricate the door rubbers when a cold period is expected.
