Brake hoses

Along with the brake line, the car's brake hose ensures that the brake fluid is transported to the  braking system. When the brake pedal is pressed, this system is activated and ensures that the car can slow down. Do you notice that the braking power is reduced or have you identified a leak? Then the brake hoses could be worn out. At Winparts you will find brake hoses from top brands such as  FebiABS and Blue print. Simply select the car model on the site and the correct parts will then be displayed.

The brake hoses of the car are made of rubber. Together with the brake line, this component ensures that  brake fluid is transported to the brake caliper or brake cylinder. The difference between the brake line and the brake hose is in the material. The brake hose is made of copper or steel and is therefore more durable than a rubber brake hose. Where possible, the brake line is also used. The advantage of the brake hose, on the other hand, is that it is flexible because rubber is used. A brake hose can therefore move with the moving parts. Usually the forces of these two car parts are combined and a combination of pipes and hoses is applied to the car.

Brake hose worn

A brake hose can become worn because it is connected to moving parts, such as the wheel suspension. The hose comes into contact with these moving parts and can wear and dry out as a result. A worn brake hose will leak. So there is a good chance that there will be a puddle of brake fluid under the car. You can also recognize a worn hose by the reduced braking power of the car. This is because when there is no longer enough brake fluid transported to the braking system, the braking power will decrease. It is very important to check the braking system regularly. Are the brake lines or brake hoses worn out? These must be replaced as soon as possible to prevent unsafe situations. A reduced braking power results in a longer braking distance.

Replace brake hose

Replacing the brake hoses is a relatively simple job and you can do it yourself. Before replacing the brake hoses, you will first have to drain the brake fluid. It is therefore useful to have a container ready under the work area, so that the brake fluid is neatly collected. You can now disconnect the brake hose from the wheel brake cylinder and the brake caliper. The new hose can then be placed. Make sure you take enough time to place the brake hose correctly, it should not be twisted. The brake fluid cannot flow freely when the brake hose is twisted or seated. After replacing the brake hose, you must bleed the brake system so that no air remains in the pipes.
