The clutch switch prevents the car from starting while it is in gear. If the car were to be started while in gear, without the clutches, there is a good chance that control of the vehicle will be lost. The car could suddenly start moving forwards or backwards when starting. For this reason the clutch switch was created. The clutch switch is activated as soon as the clutch  pedal is pressed. As soon as the clutch pedal is pressed, the car can be started.

Do you have cruise control? On vehicles with cruise control, the clutch switch has an additional function. When the cruise control is engaged, the vehicle will accelerate itself. The clutch switch on these vehicles causes the cruise control to disengage or release the throttle as soon as the clutch is pressed. Replace clutch switch

To release the clutch switch, simply turn it 90 degrees. You can retighten the new switch in the same place. We would advise to replace the  brake light switch at the same time. This is in the same location, but above the brake pedal.
