The EGR-valve is nowadays standard in a diesel engine. Due to new guidelines, the emission of the vehicle must be reduced as much as possible. Recognize a bad EGR-valve
There are different ways to recognize a bad EGR-valve. This is indicated by:
- Warning-lamp on the dashboard
- The engine is stuttering
- The car has less power

Spray these on the valve, the dirt will soak off, which makes the valve clean again. It is often relatively easy to reach the EGR-valve. Simply remove one or two hose clamps. However, simply cleaning this valve is not always sufficient. Then it is the need to clean the whole intake system, such as the particle filter and the intake manifold.
EGR-valve replacement
If the problems have not disappeared after cleaning the EGR valve, it is so worn that the valve needs to be replaced. In principle, you can replace the valve yourself.
