Assembly of an exhaust tip

Before you purchase and assemble an exhaust tip, you naturally want to know what to look for. There are a few points that you should pay attention to. First of all, the mounting size (diameter) is important. Determine therefore first the size of your exhaust system’s tailpipe. The diameter of the tip should be larger than that of the end of your car's exhaust. You can easily measure the diameter of your exhaust with, for example, a measuring tape.

Then there is also the length. With the length, you ensure that the exhaust trim item is clearly visible. It is important however that it does not stick out too far. On the other hand, it should be long enough to properly discharge the exhaust gases. It´s therefore important to know how long the exhaust tip can be and needs to be. Determine the length therefore beforehand.

Finally, pay attention to the method of assembly. The assembly method can differ per product. Some exhaust tips need to be fixed using clamps, so called clamp on exhaust tips, where others are fixed using bolts, the so called bolt on exhaust tips. Luckily, both variants are very easy to assemble. A job anyone can do. Assembling your exhaust tip to your car takes just a few minutes. It is important that you carefully check whether there is enough room to assemble the exhaust tip. And maybe a bit obvious, but always make sure that the exhaust is well cooled before you start. This not only prevents you from burning your fingers, but a hot exhaust system, in general, dilates a bit making assembly harder. Assembling an exhaust tip to a cold exhaust system or tailpipe is more easy. Of course, than there are also the exhaust tips that go by the name universal exhaust tips.
