Replace gearshift knob
Before the shift knob can be replaced, the old knob must first be removed. In most cases you can easily remove it by turning it counterclockwise. With some car models, however, other parts will first have to be removed so that the screws come out and you can unscrew the knob. It then differs per car how the new gear knob should be placed. Some cars have a turning system, while other cars use a click or screw system. Therefore, take a good look at how the gearshift knob of your car should be removed and replaced.
Replace gearshift cover
To be able to replace the gearshift cover, the old cover and gearshift knob must also be removed first. The cover is secured along a plastic edge. You can jack up this edge with a card or knife and then you can pull the cover up so that it is inside out. The cover has a plastic housing. You can carefully remove this cover from the housing and remove it from the plastic rings. You can then place the new cover using the following steps:
1. Place the new cover over the plastic ring. Make sure the cover fits properly.
2. Secure the cover by replacing the ring at the top. Make sure that the cover is properly clamped by the top plastic ring.
3. Reattach the cover around the poker.
4. Turn the cover 1 more time inside out. This way you can easily reach the inside of the cover and you can secure it again with a tie wrap.
5. Put the gear shift cover back in place. Now you can click the plastic edge back into the interior.
6. Finally, put the shift knob back in place.
