Rubber frames

The rubber seals on a car ensure the doors and windows are properly sealed. The seals prevent moisture and dirt from entering the car. They also offer protection to the bodywork. Rubber seals are fitted to the car body to cushion the impact of the door when closing. This prevents the bodywork from getting damaged when you shut the door. Over time, the rubber can dry out and crack. It then no longer provides a seal or protection. You will then need to replace the rubber seals. Replacing Rubber Seals

Replacing rubber seals is not a complicated job. You can easily do it yourself. It can be handy to use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the seals. You don't need any other special tools.

1. Carefully pull the seals away from the door or window. Use a flat-head screwdriver to get started and then pull the rest loose with your hands. Are pieces breaking off? Then the rubber is too soft. You can then use the screwdriver to remove the rubber piece by piece.

2. Then remove the adhesive residue. You can use WD-40 Classic Multispray for this. Spray the WD-40 on the adhesive residue and let it soak in for a while. Then you can rub over it with a cloth to remove the residue.

3. Apply adhesive to the new rubber seal and some to the location of the new seal. This will help the new rubber to adhere better.

4. Install the new seal. It is useful to start in a corner and follow the seal. Press the rubber firmly and make sure you do not stretch it.

5. Finally, let the adhesive dry.
