There are many different filters in a car, all of which have a different effect. Yet most filters also have a common goal. They ensure that the  engine can function properly and that wear and tear is prevented as much as possible. Most filters are therefore built around the engine. The sizes of the filters may differ for each car make and model. With your car model you will quickly find out which variant is suitable for your vehicle. For example, are you looking for an  oil filterair filter, fuel filter or pollen filter? Navigate quickly to the right category and view the range of the various quality brands such as Febi, Bosch and Mann.

The filters of the car are necessary for the engine to function properly. While driving, oil, fuel and oxygen are supplied to the engine. However, this oil, fuel and oxygen must be filtered, otherwise the engine parts would quickly become contaminated with dust particles or other external dirt. When dirt gets to the engine parts, this can cause the engine parts to wear out prematurely and have to be replaced. This can often be very expensive. That is why it is important to provide the car with good filters and to replace them in time.

Types of car filters

As mentioned before, the car is equipped with different filters. But what exactly are these filters for? Below we will further explain the different filters for you.

Oil filter: While driving,  engine oil is pumped around, which ensures that the engine is lubricated. The engine contains all kinds of moving parts that can contaminate the engine oil along the way. The oil filter ensures that this dirt is filtered out of the engine oil again. It is recommended to change the engine oil annually, it is best to change the oil filter at the same time.

Air filter: Combustion takes place in the engine. To make this possible, fuel, ignition, but also air is needed. This air is sucked in and filtered before being transported to the engine. Over time, the air filter will clog and must be replaced to maintain optimum engine performance.

Fuel filter: The fuel tank is not cleaned often. This means that all kinds of dirt can get into the fuel, which we don't want in the engine. To prevent this dirt from entering the engine, the fuel first passes through the fuel filter. A dirty fuel filter can cause a lot of damage, so make sure to check the manual of the car how often it needs to be replaced.

pollen filter: The pollen filter is made to filter the air, which is blown into the cabin via the  air conditioning or ventilation. This keeps pollen and dust outside the car and keeps the interior a lot cleaner. Do you notice that unpleasant odors are coming from the air conditioning or that the windows are fogging up faster and faster? Then it's time to replace the filter.

Performance filters: Performance filters allow more air to be sent into the combustion chamber. This means that there is a larger ignition and the car therefore has more power.

Coolant filters: The coolant filter has the job of filtering dirt from the coolant. Coolant keeps the engine from overheating. The coolant is therefore pumped along the engine parts, but is filtered before that to ensure that no dirt gets to the engine parts.

Transmission filter: In automatic transmissions, the transmission oil is of great importance. This oil ensures that shifting is smooth. The gearbox oil passes through the transmission filter to ensure that poor quality oil is filtered. This prevents problems from occurring during gear changes.

Urea filters: Urea filters ensure that no dirt enters the exhaust. This urea filter is installed in the Adblue system and can therefore only be found on some diesel vehicles.  Adblue is injected directly into the exhaust, but is first filtered to prevent dirt from going to the exhaust.
